Scott Wilson, who was best known for his recent role on "The Walking Dead" as Hershel Green, has died, according to "TMZ."
Wilson's representative, Dominic Mancini, told "TMZ" that he passed away due to complications after his long battle with leukemia. Mancini said that Wilson passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home on Saturday, October 6.
“Scott will always be remembered as a great actor and we all feel fortunate to have known him as an even better person,” AMC said in a statement to "Us Weekly" on Saturday.
“The character he embodied on The Walking Dead, Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform our characters’ choices to this day. Our hearts go out to his wife, family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed," AMC continued.
Wilson, who made his acting debut in 1967 with a role as a murder suspect in the film "In the Heat of the Night," has more than 50 movie credits to his name. Wilson earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor in the 1980 film, "The Ninth Configuration," as Captain Billy Cupshaw. He starred in "In Cold Blood," and appeared in other great films, such as, "The Great Gatsby," and "Dead Man Walking."
