WATCH: Incredible Footage Of Rare PNW Tornado; Residents Have No Warning Before Monster Storm Ravages Town Just Days Before Christmas

December 19, 2018

There are two strange things about the Seattle tornado that struck without warning on Tuesday: It is NOT the time of year for such storms; this is NOT where anyone expected it to strike. Oklahoma? Yes. Illinois? Maybe. But the Pacific Northwest in mid-December? Unheard of!

But happen it did, leaving residents of Port Orchard, Washington, shaken and in utter disbelief after a rare Northwest tornado touched down about 2 p.m. Tuesday. Cleaning up tornado debris was definitely NOT part of their holiday plans.

Even meteorologists were caught by surprise at the unexpected weather pattern.

“Thunderstorms were in the forecast Tuesday,” said Kirby Cook, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

“We were not expecting any to be severe. Certainly, this one was,” Cook said. “Part of the challenge with this kind of phenomenon — it’s so infrequent here. It’s hard to forecast.”

According to the Seattle Times, “The sheriff’s office described the damage as ‘catastrophic,’ warning residents to stay out of the area or shelter in place. Power lines are down, and gas lines are being checked for leaks, the office said in a tweet.”

In an interview with King 5 News, one traumatized resident spells it all out in terrifying detail:

"When I was outside it started heavy rain, and then hail, and then the wind and I saw the tornado-like spinning and I thought I was going to get sucked up,” said Jennifer Connelly Delay.

“And then somebody came to my house and said there might be another one in 30 minutes, so I went in my house and waited for another one to come. And by the grace of God, another one didn’t come. I feel very protected by God.”

There was widespread damage to multiple structures but no deaths or serious injuries have been reported. Thank God!

Please join us in praying for all the residents who were affected by this freak storm as they dig through the rubble of their homes and places of business.
