On Sunday, July 23, startingly news came in about a famous pro basketball player being pulled out of the ocean after coming face-to-face with a shark.
During the Discovery Channel's Shark Week's episode of "Shaq Does Shark Week," Shaquille O'Neal was the host for the week. During his show, he got into the water with sharks. This was his first time ever getting this close to sharks and O'Neal claims he is afraid of sharks and he was clearly hesitant throughout the entire event.
What was thought to be a fairly safe, yet still thrilling, adventure with Rob Riggle, the situation turned for the worse. O'Neal got suited up and placed himself in a custom-built cage and was instantly surrounded by sharks. Shortly after he submerged is when things got scary.
The custom cage stands 12 feet tall by 6 feet wide, and it included custom windows. However, the custom windows allowed a smaller shark to slip through the rails. The shark was now inside with O'Neal.
The professional biologist acted fast and was able to quickly remove the shark from the cage. O'Neal climbed out of the cage physically unharmed but is now likely mentally scared for quite some time.
After the life-threatening event, O'Neal was heard saying, "I survived a shark attack, you b******!" according to "Yahoo!"
