There are no answers yet, only questions. And the questions are very disturbing.

The main one being, 'Why did a 17-year-old Florida High School student shoot herself in the school auditorium after asking her teacher for permission use the restroom?'

The girl, whose name has not been released, left the class around 7:45 am. The teacher who had granted her permission to use the restroom said she heard a gunshot a few minutes later.

The school was immediately placed on lockdown until the situation could be investigated. That’s when authorities discovered the student’s body in the auditorium of the high school.

The school nurse provided emergency care to the teen, attempting to revive her while waiting for EMS to arrive.

The incident took place at Lake Mary High School in, Seminole County, Florida shortly before the end of first period on Wednesday.

According to school officials, there were no teachers or staff in the auditorium when the incident occurred, so there were no witnesses to the event.

At this time, no one is saying how the girl might have gained access to the gun or how she was able to bring it into the school building.

An investigation is underway to determine the answers to these and many other distressing questions.

Authorities were able to notify the girl’s father but were unsuccessful in reaching the mother who lives in another state.

After the incident was over, school officials met with staff and students to talk about the shooting.
