Very few people can say they "love" to do laundry. I mean it takes a considerable amount of time. First, you have to clean it, and then you have to dry it, and then you have to fold it, and then you have to put it away. It can be a real chore...literally!

Well, one woman, Claire Mountjoy, from London decided she wanted to be proud of her laundry—hanging it out for the whole world to see. Most people consider air drying your clothes to be a rather common occurrence (and a very earth-friendly one), but one local business decided they had enough of seeing Mountjoy's undergarments hanging on the line.

One day she received an anonymous letter from a local business stating:

“'We all try hard to keep our lovely town thriving and looking good,' the letter said, pointing out that Ms. Mountjoy’s home was prominent to visitors arriving to town. 'This letter is not written with malice but we ask you to please help us all keep Colyton a town we can all be proud of.'”

Bad idea local anonymous business...bad idea. Instead of obliging the secret letter's request, she "aired it out to dry" for the whole town to see. "After the letter spread on social media, many in Colyton were inspired to undertake a collective airing of laundry."

Soon the whole town turned into one big clothes festival, with local businesses even jumping on the bandwagon. Here a business hanged out some laundry as a display. LOL

The town is so in love with the concept of letting their laundry fly free, that they are thinking of making it an annual event!

"Colyton, a town of about 2,000 people in Devon County, has a long reputation for resistance. Dozens of Colyton men died in the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685 when they fatefully sided with the Duke of Monmouth against the newly crowned King James II.

"Since then, Colyton has been called the 'most rebellious town in Devon,' a name that still seems fitting. Already, some residents are calling for an Annual Underwear Airing Rebellion Day."
