With the date of the big day fast approaching (May 18th), preparations are well underway for one of the biggest weddings of the decade.
One of the most important aspects of the wedding is the invitation to this royal event. Just 600 lucky guests have been invited to witness the ceremony firsthand.
The invitation reads: “His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales requests the pleasure of the company of _______ at the marriage of his royal highness Prince Henry of Wales with Ms. Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on Saturday, 19th May 2018 at 12 noon followed by a reception at Windsor Castle.”
Prince Henry? That’s not a typo. Henry is his given name although everyone calls him Harry.
Meghan Markle’s given name is Rachel, however, but the invitation uses her middle name Meghan, which is what she chooses to go by.
Also she is referred to as a Ms. and not a Miss like Kate Middleton is since this is Markle’s second marriage.
The Queen also wrote her official consent to the marriage, writing, “My Lords, I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.”
What would your reaction be if you received one of these in the mail?
