Buying things online is easy and convenient. You hit a few buttons and something shows up in your mailbox a few days later. It’s also amazing for people like me—people who love a good deal. Most companies have codes and savings deals that you can take advantage of if you dig enough.
It can take a lot of time to find those good deals, though. You have to sign up for email lists, dig through Facebook posts, and try code after code—just to save a few bucks.
Luckily, there is an online shopping hack that can save you both time and money. It’s called “Honey.”
Honey is an extension on Google Chrome. Unfortunately, it’s only available for the Chrome web browser right now. To download it, go to the Chrome Web Store and add it. You’ll see a small icon appear on the top right of your browser.
Next time you’re buying something online, you’ll see that icon appear with a small green number, showing how many coupons are active on the website right now.
When you go to check out, you’ll see a screen in the right corner asking if you want to save money. All you have to do is click “Save Money.”
A screen will pop up where it will start running different codes. Honey will find you the best deal you can get and automatically apply those codes to your purchase. On this purchase, you can see that the Honey app saved $25.
And just like that, you’ve saved a ton of money! If I was able to save $25 in a single purchase—just think about how quickly that could add up.
Honey also logs when the codes work. If they don’t work, they will be removed. If you click the extension button, it will show you all of the codes that the organization has right now and how recently they worked.
At this point, the app only works on computers, but the saved money is worth the extra effort!
Honey works with almost every website. The only one that it doesn’t do much on is Amazon. Amazon automatically applies discounts, so it wouldn’t do much anyway. So if you’re looking to save a ton of money online, check out Honey’s website here.
