The pain was evident on the face of the 76-year-old Markle patriarch as he sat for an interview with Piers Morgan for Good Morning Britain on Monday. In the emotional exchange, the Duchess of Sussex’ dad poured out his heart in the hopes that the deafening silence coming out of the U.K. will finally end.
His daughter Meghan has been married to Prince Harry since May, that’s seven months. And, according to Markle, there hasn’t been peep from across the pond. And now that the Duchess is expecting her and Harry's first child, it seems all the more odd that she hasn't reached out to her daddy.
Social Media users see to her firmly on Mr.Markle’s side in this matter, puzzled as to why a supposedly loving daughter refuses to get in contact with her dad. With the Holidays here and a baby on the way, it would seem that it’s the perfect time to make amends.
"God this is genuinely sad 😔 He seems very very troubled. 'I’ve been quiet for six months and no-one’s spoken to me, I’m confused. I love my daughter very much, she has to know that”' as he uses @GMB to appeal to her as she won’t reply to his letters or texts."
"People can criticise him for speaking out but I feel sorry for Thomas Markle and find it inexplicable he’s cut off by his daughter and her hubby"
Now, in what would appear to be the last resort, Mr. Markle has made a public appeal to the Queen to intervene. Markle stated that he is certain that she would want to put an end to the family discord and would be the perfect person to do what has not been able to be done in the past.
Until then, I am going to pray for all involved in this sad situation. There has to be a better way than giving the cold shoulder to someone who used to mean so much. I hope that the two of them find a way to get over whatever slights they feel and become a loving family, once again.
