16-year-old Kaylen Thomas died Friday after she was shot by two teenagers. According to officials, a 15-year-old male and female were taken into custody in the connection to Thomas' death, according to "NewsOK."

At around 5 p.m. Friday, October 5, the three teenagers were in a McLoud, Oklahoma home near their high school. Thomas was shot in the head. When emergency responders arrived, they rushed her to a hospital in Oklahoma City where she later died.

McLoud Police Chief Tom Pringle said that they obtain a gun from the scene. He also said that there were several other people inside the home during the shooting. All the witnesses were juveniles, Pringle said.

On Monday, McLoud Schools superintendent Steve Stanley said that one of the two teenagers taken into custody was a McLoud High School student.

Stanley said that there are about 450 students at this high school who are all struggling to deal with Thomas' death.

"We have counselors here from everywhere. It has been very somber, and is still a rough morning," Stanley said. "It affects the whole community,"

Thomas' death is the third death the school has had to deal with in the past year. Over the summer, a 17-year-old student, Raydon French, was shot and killed. About a year ago another student died by suicide, Stanley reported.
