An incredibly sad story has surfaced on the Internet this morning. An unborn baby survives after his mother was shot dead with a crossbow.
35-year-old Sana Muhammad was eight months pregnant when she was fatally shot in her home in Applegarth Drive, Ilford, east London, on Monday, according to reports.
Sana's husband, Imtiaz Muhammad, said in an interview that she was shot in front of her five other children, aged between one and 17 years old, after he stumbled upon the suspect in their garden shed.
"I went to put a cardboard box in the shed," Imtiaz recalled.
"He was there with the crossbow loaded.
"He stared at me, he was going to shoot so I ran into the house.
"My wife was doing the washing up, I was shouting 'run' 'run' 'run.'
“He shot her. I can’t help thinking she took my arrow.
“Maybe it should have hit me. The kids were all there, it was horrific.”
When paramedics arrived, they rushed Sana to a nearby hospital where they delivered the baby boy by caesarian. The baby is still at the hospital and his condition has not been released.
The suspect, Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, 50, is reportedly Sana's ex-husband, according to the "Daily Mail." Unmathallegadoo appeared at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. He is being charged with murder and is due in court at the Old Bailey on November 15.
Please keep your thoughts and prayers with the Muhammad family.
