Video of a Sister Greeting Her Brother Went Viral—It’s Easy to See Why

Sibling relationships can be some of our best and most fulfilling relationships. But they can also be some of the most challenging. Two siblings recently showed the world exactly why sibling relationships are the best.

Ava is three years old. Her older brother, Tariq Jr., is five. Tariq, Jr. recently began going to school. Every day, Ava misses her older brother, so she and her mother go to the bus stop to wait for him.

As soon as Tariq Jr. steps off the bus, his little sister is there waiting. When they spot each other, they run toward each other and jump into each other’s arms.

In the video that their mother, Verlonda, posted on Instagram, you can see Tariq Jr. kiss his little sister as they walk off together. You can see how happy the two kids are to be back together.

With the video Verlonda added a long comment about how difficult siblings can be. She shared, “Nothing frustrates me more than when my kids fight with each other.” I’m sure that many parents can relate to that. No matter what you provide them, they always find something to fight about.

She went on, “There are days when it seems like the vast majority of their interactions are acrimonious, hostile, and exasperating. But every afternoon at 4:04pm when my son gets off the school bus from kindergarten, this happens…...they greet each other with hugs, kisses, and walk home arm and arm saying things like, ‘Your my favorite person.’”

Regardless of how much the siblings fight or disagree, or even call each other names, they’re always best friends. Verlonda added, “As a parent that’s the best I can hope for. That my babies will fight and forgive. That they will practice what it means to be a human with each other.”

Verlonda, her husband Tariq, and their three kids post photos and stories of their family on social media. They want to be real about the difficulties of having a close family, but they also want to share some of the highlights that they go through.

Verlonda shared, “Being so close in age, my children fight a lot, so my husband and I try to show them love through our marriage—we always hug, kiss, and speak to each other respectfully.”

It’s incredible to see the sweet bond between these two siblings. You can see how protective little Tariq Jr. will be of his little sister as they get older.
