Walmart has pulled over 246,000 of its products from the shelves after complaints of axes detaching from the handle, "posing an injury hazard."
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the major grocery store has received two complaints of Ozark Trail camp ax heads detaching from their non-slip rubber grip and claw handle. The result of these events caused "minor cuts and abrasions."
Customers who have purchased this product are asked to "immediately stop using the recalled axes," and return it to Walmart for a full refund, according to the CPSC. The recall was issued on October 3, 2018.
The model number is 60111140 which is printed on the product's packaging. The axes measure about 14 inches long and weigh about 1.25 pounds. These axes were sold in stores and online from January 2017 through July 2018 for about $8, according to "USA Today."
