Authorities are seeking five missing children, along with their mother, who is believed to have abducted the children. Minnesota police are asking for the public's help with this case.
39-year-old Izetta Cooley is wanted by police as she is believed to have taken her five children despite a court order to stay away from them.
According to "KAALTV," these charges were filed on Monday, October 1. Cooley is facing two counts of kidnapping and two counts of violating a court order. These charges are related to the abduction of her five children.
On Saturday, September 29, at about 10:11 p.m. a criminal complaint about a kidnapping was reported to the Mower County sheriff's Deputies. The officers responded to the call at a residence on the 200 block of Elm Street NE in Rose Creek.
The person who called in the report said that Cooley showed up at the home and said that she was coming to take her kids. Cooley's hands were in her pockets at the time, but the caller didn't want to touch her "fearing that the situation may escalate," according to reports.
According to documents, the caller was the designated foster parent for two of the children. The other children are also missing, and they are believed to be traveling with her. She has another child, but that child is in protective custody in Clay County.
Cooley's husband, 44-year-old Miguel Cooley, is accused of murdering 20-year-old Gabriel Perez outside a McDonald's in Fargo, North Dakota on September 23. Miguel was later arrested in Minnesota and was said to have brought three of the children with him. The children were placed in protective services.
"We had three children that were placed from Clay County Child Protection Services in Rose Creek, MN following the homicide suspect being arrested last week in a residence in Rose Creek," said Sgt. Investigator Steve Sandvik.
"One of those three children was returned to Clay County on Friday evening. The mother was barred from contact with the remaining two children. Last night at approximately 10:30 pm the mother arrived at that residence with one of her other children, Morgan J. Cooley. They retrieved the two remaining children from here in violation of the court order. She left the residence in a hurry with the children," Sandvik said.
The children's age ranges from 10 to 17. Police believe Cooley is taking the children to South Dakota or North Dakota, or she could be staying in Minnesota. According to the latest report, one of the children, a 15-year-old who was missing has now been found safe at around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The rest of the group is still missing and police are concerned about the children's welfare.
Cooley is believed to be driving a black 2007 Suzuki XL-7 SUC with the license plates 103 WJC.
The non-custodial mother is described as a 5-foot-4-inches female, weighing about 180 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair.
