A famous salad dressing is being recalled after a health and safety concern that may impact millions of consumers.
Pinnacle Foods Inc. has taken steps to recall their famous Wish-Bone House Italian Dressing voluntarily. Nearly 8,000 bottles were recalled after the bottles were mislabeled.
According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, there are 7,768 cases of the 15-ounce bottles with the production date of March 19, 2018, which are being removed from grocery stores across the nation. Bottles with the "Best If Used By" date of January 13, 2019, are subject to recall.
The product contains allergens, such as milk and eggs, and they were not labeled on the bottle. Individuals who have these allergies or are extremely sensitive to milk and eggs may have a higher risk of a "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" if the product is consumed.
According to the FDA, individuals that do not have an allergy to milk and eggs, the product is safe to consume. At this time, there have been no illnesses reported but Pinnacle Foods Inc. has taken the appropriate action "as part of its commitment to the health and safety of its customers."
There are no other kinds of dressings or other Italian dressings produced by Pinnacle Foods that are affected by this recall.
