One day in Greeley, Colorado, Eric, his wife, Olivia, and their three daughters — a four-week-old, a fourteen-month-old, and a five-year-old, were driving in their partially converted school bus when it broke down.
Unfortunately, the family was homeless. All they had was a broken down school bus with five mouths to feed.
“It’s scary, it’s terrifying, it’s not fun you can’t give kids enough food,” Olivia told Denver7.
In the meantime, a mother and her daughters were preparing Thanksgiving meals for the homeless. When Virginia Kinch and her daughters heard about a family living in a school bus behind a local gas station, they decided to offer them food.
After talking with Eric and Olivia about their tragic story, Virginia knew she had to do something — she couldn't stand the thought of those babies suffering in the cold.
“There’s no way I’m going to leave a baby with no crib for a bed on Christmas,” Virginia said.
Then the most surprising question popped out of Virginia's mouth. "Do you want to move into our other house?"
Olivia was hesitant about the offer. She thought it was "cruel joke" at first.
"Who does that?" Olivia asked. "Nobody does that."
After just a week of donations of clothes, furniture, and money, Eric and Olivia are living in this house rent and utility free.
"It's helped restore my faith in humanity, and hopefulness," Oliva said.
"Olivia tells me that I am an angel or a saint and that I saved their lives," Virginia shares.
Olivia said that their Christmas wasn't likely going to happen. They were just worried if they were going to have enough food or have jobs at that point.
